Online Ordering with Sage 50 Integration

About the Company

First Stop Supplies have been providing disposable supplies, cleaning chemicals and cleaning supplies since 1991, supplying private and public care and nursing homes, pubs, clubs, bars, hotels, restaurants and schools. They had approached Solweb with an interest in our DataBridge Sync Application, with the aim of integrating their Sage 50 accounting system with a new online ordering system.

They were very keen to work with a local company offering them effective support and assistance both during and after development. They already had a corporate website which had been developed using WordPress, so the new online shop should fit in with the branding, whilst being simple to use and manage. After our initial consultation, we suggested spreading the development over multiple phases to reduce the initial development costs and to ensure the site could expand as demand increased.

Requirements Overview

The main requirements of this project were to create a simple to use, responsive website which enabled the customers of First Stop Supplies to log on, view accurate pricing and availability of stock, and then send their orders directly through to First Stop Supplies. In addition, all customers should be able to view a full order and invoice history directly from the website. The core data was to be pulled directly from their Sage 50 database, with an additional administration area giving them access to greater control of their website data.

No online payments can be made; however, all orders should be recorded and emailed directly to their Sales Team.

After the initial success of the web shop, we went on to include a full Content Management System that enabled First Stop Supplies to completely replace their corporate website with the online shop and the new features that gave them complete control over the website content, and ability to create new pages.

The Data Bridge

Automate Data Transfer To Save Time


The flexibility of DataBridge meant we were able create a new connection module to allow us to connect to their Sage 50 Database, and then transfer information relating to customers, sales orders, and their stock, directly up to the website database in real time. This means the information on the website is always accurate, even if data is being updated locally at First Stop Supplies.

The end website is a simple to use website, that easily allows their customers access to their local account information, as well as view a complete list of products that are included in their pricing structure. If certain products have not been allocated to them, they are able to complete a quote request which will ask First Stop Supplies to grant them access to a new range of products. The ease at which their customers can access their data has been invaluable, and the nature of the website has ensured First Stop Supplies are still able to maintain a personal relationship with their customers


We have been pleased to assist First Stop Supplies with getting their online shop set up, and seeing it expand to a complete web solution. We have also been able to support them in getting data populated with the benefit of further reducing their administration time getting everything in place ready for launch.
