Requirements Overview
After working alongside 123insight to implement their MRP system, Luxonic approached Solweb to design and build a web-based configurator system that would enable their sales team to manage their quotations and set up their parts based on a complex set of compatibility rules. This is based on a combination of information entered into the online administration, and data that has been transferred up from 123insight using the Solweb DataBridge, data transfer service. Furthermore, the additional integration with Microsoft Dynamics CRM enables their sales and quotes departments to manage all of their on-going and forthcoming projects and have direct access to all of their customer information without the need to duplicate data across multiple systems.

Solution
When managing a quotation, the sales users are able to configure their products via a series of drop-down boxes that will ensure only compatible options can be selected based on previous options. As well as ensuring valid products, the system also calculates the unique catalogue code based on the configured part, the complete Bill of Materials that required to build the configured part, and also calculates the costs involved in building the part, allowing the quote team to ensure the correct margins are being applied, using a series of rules to determine what this initial quotable price should be.
Outcome
Once the quotations have been checked and marked as complete, the resulting document can be emailed to their customers as a PDF and stored on their server. Finally, utilising the power of DataBridge, the quote information can be transferred into 123insight via the Software Development Kit (as a quote or a sales order), and will also create any parts that do not currently exist, include the complete Bill of Materials. The sales information is also sent to their online CRM System to ensure all management reports are up to date and accurate.
