Web Portal
Your most efficient member of staff. An integrated e-commerce platform that trades for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with every order, every price and every stock level synchronised with your back office systems in real time.
What is Web Portal?
Web Portal is Solweb’s integrated e-commerce platform, designed specifically for businesses that need their online store to work as a genuine extension of their back-office systems, not as a separate, disconnected channel that creates more work.
Unlike generic e-commerce platforms where integration is an afterthought, Web Portal was built with integration at its core. It connects directly with your MRP, ERP and accounting systems, ensuring that product data, pricing, stock levels, customer accounts and order information all flow automatically between your website and your internal systems.
The result is an online sales channel that works for you around the clock, without your team needing to manually re-key orders, update stock levels, or reconcile customer accounts. Web Portal handles it all, automatically.

The problem with most E-Commerce platforms
Most e-commerce platforms are designed for businesses that sell directly to consumers and manage everything within the platform itself. They work well for that purpose. But if your business runs an MRP or ERP system, has trade accounts with specific pricing structures, or needs its website to reflect live stock and account data from an internal database, a generic platform quickly becomes a burden.
You end up maintaining product data in two places. Stock levels on your website drift out of sync with reality. Orders placed online have to be manually entered into your manufacturing or accounting system. Customer pricing on the website does not match the pricing in your accounts package. Your team spends hours every week on administrative work that should not exist.
Web Portal was built to solve exactly this problem. It bridges the gap between your internal management system and your commercial website, so your online presence is always an accurate reflection of your business.
Systems Web Portal integrates with
123insight
Web Portal was originally developed as an e-commerce extension for 123insight and remains the go-to online trading platform for 123insight users. Product data, pricing, stock levels and customer accounts are pulled directly from 123insight’s database. Orders placed through Web Portal are created automatically within 123insight without any administrative input. Product information and images are populated from 123insight’s data, eliminating the need to maintain product catalogues in multiple places.
Access Dimensions
Web Portal integrates with Access Dimensions for businesses using it as their primary accounting and business management platform. Orders placed online are created directly in Access Dimensions, and customer account data, pricing and stock information are synchronised in real time.
Sage 50 & Sage 200
Full integration with both Sage 50 and Sage 200. Online orders flow directly into your Sage accounting system and customer accounts, pricing and stock data are kept consistent between your website and your accounts package.
Other Systems
Web Portal can integrate with the majority of standard applications that use database technologies. If your system is not listed above, get in touch, there is a good chance we can connect Web Portal to it through The Data Bridge® or a custom integration.
What Web Portal can do for you
Automated Order Processing
When a customer places an order on your Web Portal site, the order is created directly in your MRP, ERP, or accounting system. No manual entry, no delay, no risk of transcription errors. Your production or fulfilment team can start work immediately and invoices are generated through your normal internal processes. This single feature alone typically pays for the platform within weeks.
Real Time Product and Stock Data
Product information, descriptions, images, and stock availability are pulled from your internal systems and displayed on your website in real time. When stock levels change in your ERP, your website updates automatically. When you add a new product, it can appear on your site without any separate data entry. Your customers always see accurate, current information.
Customer Specific Pricing
For B2B businesses, pricing is rarely one-size-fits-all. Web Portal supports customer-specific pricing drawn directly from your internal systems. When a customer logs in, they see the prices that apply to their account — whether that is standard list prices, negotiated rates, volume discounts, or contract pricing. No separate price lists to maintain on the website.
Customer Account Access
Your customers can log in to view their account balance, check order history, track order progress, view outstanding invoices, and manage their account details — all drawn from live data in your accounting or ERP system. This self-service access reduces the volume of phone calls and emails your team handles, while giving your customers the instant access to information they increasingly expect.
Built In Content Management
Web Portal includes an integrated Content Management System that lets you maintain your website content without needing developer support for everyday updates. Menu structures, page content, news items, gallery images, banners and promotions can all be managed through a straightforward editing interface. Your team stays in control of the content, while the product and account data is handled automatically by the integration.
Marketing Suite
Web Portal includes marketing tools to help you promote products, run campaigns, and track customer activity. You can measure sales trends, monitor browsing behaviour and use this data to inform your marketing strategy, all from within the platform.
Multiple Storefronts
Web Portal supports multiple storefronts from a single installation. This means you can run a public facing e-commerce store alongside a dealer only trade portal, or offer different product ranges and pricing structures to different customer groups, all powered by the same underlying product data and inventory from your internal systems.
Responsive Design
Web Portal is designed and developed using modern, responsive design practices, ensuring your store works seamlessly on desktop, tablet and mobile devices. With an increasing proportion of B2B purchasing happening on mobile, this is not optional, it is essential.
The benefits of Web Portal
Trade 24/7 without increasing headcount
Your Web Portal site takes orders around the clock, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. Because orders are processed automatically into your internal systems, there is no backlog of manual work when your team arrives on Monday morning. It is, as many of our clients describe it, the most efficient member of staff they have ever had.
One source of data
With Web Portal, you maintain your product data, pricing, and stock information in your internal system — the single source of truth. Web Portal reads from this data, so you never have to update the same information in two places. This eliminates the inconsistencies and duplication errors that plague businesses running separate, disconnected e-commerce platforms.
Reduce support enquiries
A significant proportion of the calls and emails your team handles are customers asking questions they could answer themselves: what is the status of my order? What is my account balance? What is the price of this product? Do you have it in stock? Web Portal puts all of this information at your customers’ fingertips, 24/7, reducing the load on your team.
Cost effective
Web Portal is available for a small setup cost and a fixed monthly subscription. Compared to the cost of building a bespoke e-commerce platform with equivalent integration capabilities, or the ongoing labour cost of manually managing a disconnected online store, Web Portal represents exceptional value.
Grow your reach
An online sales channel removes geographical barriers. Customers who would never have found you through traditional channels can discover your products, check availability, and place orders from anywhere. For businesses looking to expand without the overhead of additional premises or sales staff, Web Portal is the most efficient route to market.
How the integration works
Web Portal’s integration is powered by The Data Bridge®, Solweb’s proven automated data transfer platform. Data is passed between your internal systems and Web Portal’s secure data servers via The Data Bridge®, ensuring your customers always have access to up-to-date product and account information without you having to update data in multiple locations.
This architecture means Web Portal benefits from all the monitoring, logging, and proactive support that comes with The Data Bridge®. Transfers are logged, errors are detected automatically, and our support team is alerted to any issues before they affect your customers.

Frequently Asked Questions
How quickly can Web Portal be set up?
Setup timelines depend on the complexity of your product catalogue, the number of integrations required and any custom design work. A standard deployment with an existing supported system can typically be configured and launched within a few weeks. We provide a clear timeline during the proposal stage.
Can we customise the design to match our brand?
Yes. Web Portal is designed and developed to match your brand identity, using modern design practices and responsive layouts. We work with you on the visual design to ensure your online store reflects your business and provides the right experience for your customers.
Do we need to manually add products to the website?
No. Product data, pricing, stock levels and images are pulled from your internal systems. When you add or update a product in your ERP or accounting system, it is reflected on your Web Portal site automatically. You manage your products once, in one place.
Can different customers see different prices?
Yes. Web Portal supports customer specific pricing pulled directly from your internal systems. When a customer logs in, they see the prices that apply to their account. This is essential for B2B businesses with negotiated pricing, volume discounts, or tiered trade rates.
Can we run a public store and a trade portal at the same time?
Yes. Web Portal supports multiple storefronts from a single installation. You can offer different product ranges, pricing structures, and access controls to different customer groups, all powered by the same underlying data.
What if our system is not listed as compatible?
Web Portal integrates natively with 123insight, Access Dimensions, Sage 50 and Sage 200. For other systems, we can build custom integrations through The Data Bridge® or API connections. If your system uses a database technology, there is a very good chance we can connect to it. Get in touch and we will assess your setup.
Is Web Portal secure?
Yes. All data, including monetary transactions, is transferred securely between your systems and Web Portal. Customer account data is protected and the platform is designed to meet the security expectations of businesses handling sensitive commercial information. We provide hosting and ongoing security maintenance as part of the service.
How much does Web Portal cost?
Web Portal is available for a small setup cost and a fixed monthly subscription. Pricing depends on the complexity of your requirements, the number of integrations and any custom design or development work.
